Slavenka Drakulic on war criminals on trial

Slavenka Drakulic will be attending the 25th annual Viennese
literary festival “Literatur im März” that will take place from the 18th
until 21st March under the heading “Reich oder Arm?” – “Rich or Poor?”. On Saturday, 21 March, Drakulic will read from and discuss her new book They would never harm a fly. War criminals on trial with the Eurozine editor-in-chief, Carl Henrik Fredriksson.
In the essays gathered in this book, Drakulic follows the trials of war criminals in The Hague and Croatia and demonstrates how the trials expose archaic patterns of thoughts that clash with a European notion of justice dating back to the enlightenment era.
Other events at the festival include readings by A.L. Kennedy, Nuruddin Farah, Christine Nöstlinger, Elfriede Czurda and György Konrád.
