The pARTisan project is a media project that includes the pARTisan magazine on contemporary Belarusian culture (since 2002), the pARTisan Collection series (picture albums by Belarusian artists, since 2009) and the web portal (since 2012).

We explore and present the most current and often controversial phenomena in Belarusian culture – art, literature, music, cinema, theatre. We create and expose idols, construct and destroy myths. We seek to open borders not only in a figurative, but also in a literal sense: to keep track of new trends in world art, to collaborate with foreign authors, to publish special issues on contemporary culture in other countries (Switzerland, Poland and Germany, among others).

Our activities include realizing multiple cooperative projects with foreign partners. For example, pARTisan 14 (2011) was supported by the canton of Aargau, Switzerland, and covered Belarusian-Swiss points of cultural contact; pARTisan 16-17 (2011), together with a report on Belarusian independent culture and NGOs was a result of a cooperation with Kultura Enter magazine (Poland). In 2013, pARTisan became a partner of the international project “Report on the Construction of a Spaceship Module”, concerning the archives of post-Soviet eastern European countries. Here, pARTisan contributed archival material to a major exhibition in New Museum, New York. In 2014, edition.fotoTAPETA (Germany) published a book devoted to pARTisan’s activity by Artur Klinaŭ, entitled PARTISANEN: Kultur_macht_Belarus.
