Professor of Early Modern History at the University of Basel, with a focus on the history of women and gender and French history from the fifteenth to the eighteenth centuries. Her most recent publication is Böse Weiber. Wissen und Geschlecht in der Dämonologie der Frühen Neuzeit (2017).
