Lithuania in Europe 2003

The author of the article questions what it means for a nation to be part of Europe. Many writers dealing with the subject usually dwell on texts written by others. Few, however, have the courage to approach the issue from their own standpoint. “For me the European Union is an agreement between neighboring states to give sense and strengthen neighborhood in civilized ways and to provide conditions for to mutually exchange acknowledged common values in a civilized way, as the would-be constitution of the EU attempts” – claims the author.
