A cultural animator of Kartvelian and translator of Georgian and Polish fiction, drama and poetry. She studied music, Georgian philology and journalism. Her specialty is Georgian polyphony. She has worked as a communications specialist at the UN Mission in Georgia and the Polish Embassy in Tbilisi, and as a correspondent for international media. She is the initiator and mentor of the Polish-Georgian Translation School at the Mieroszewski Center. She lived in Tbilisi for over twenty years and is currently associated with the Book Institute, where she manages international literary programmes.
Language in translation calls for all manner of adjustment from one culture to another. Georgian, from the unique family of Kartvelian languages, presents all manner of challenges and advantages: namely non-gendered grammar, single-word sentences and a tense especially for gossiping.
