Pervez Amirali Hoodbhoy

is a Pakistani nuclear physicist, essayist and national security analyst. He taught physics at the Quaid-e-Azam University for 40 years before becoming a professor of Physics and Mathematics at Forman Christian College University in Lahore where he currently teaches.

He created a series of TV programmes on Pakistan’s education system and two further series aiming to bring scientific concepts to the public. As head of “Mashal Books” in Lahore, he leads a major translation effort to produce books in Urdu promoting modern thought, human rights and the emancipation of women. He is the author of Islam and Science: Religious Orthodoxy and the Battle for Rationality (Zed Books, 1991).
