Ralf Dahrendorf

was born in Hamburg in 1929. He died in Cologne 17 June 2009. He was a sociologist, philosopher, political scientist and a politician. He was a member of the German parliament and of the British House of Lords, director of the London School of Economics and warden of St Antony’s College at the University of Oxford.
