We are not alone in the universe

A new type of political ecology may lend the Left a broad political platform. But we must first acknowledge wills that are not human. Jonathan Metzger explains why "more-than-humanism" calls for a complete rethink in policy, planning and the law. [ more ]

Naive, the hawks would say

"Ny Tid" says that only diplomacy can defuse the Iranian bomb; "NAQD" warns that the Arab revolutions are not as feminist as the West thinks; "Blätter" wants an enquiry into institutional racism in Germany; "Letras Libres" pays its respects to a rare revolutionary; "Arena" asks the bane of the Norwegian far-Right to explain Breivik; "Res Publica Nowa" struggles for objectivity amidst the tyranny of opinion; "Merkur" is still angry with Kohl; Springerin observes how artists lead the market when it comes to precarity; "L'Homme" finds that international development begins in the home; and "Vikerkaar" reads 150 years of Estonian thanatography.

"Eine Art Thinktank 'at your fingertips', voller Ideen, Gegenentwürfe, Konkretisierungen zu den relevanten Themen unserer Zeit. [...] [...] Ein online-Angebot, wo dem User transnationales Denken UND Lebensgefühl entgegenwehen. [...] In Eurozine spricht Europa zu sich selbst."

-- Sonia Seymour-Mikich, Jury President, European CIVIS Online Media Prize, 13 April 2011 (download full jury statement)

"Living dialogue of cultures"

"A cure for intellectual asthma"

"If any digital forum deserves to be called "new media" it is the netmagazine Eurozine. [...] When you have followed this metajourmal for a while, you actually start to believe that there is a Europe beyond Brussels -- and that it is possible to create a common public sphere for culture and politics."

-- Ola Larsmo, "En inhalator mot intellektuell andnöd", Dagens Nyheter, 23 July 2007

"It can't get more professional than this!"

"For anyone who wants to keep up with the intellectual debate in the European public sphere, Eurozine is by far and away the most informative website out there. Eurozine works as a network in the best sense of the word. Topical articles on politics, culture, philosophy, and social issues from over 50 leading journals and magazines in almost every European country are collected under the umbrella of Eurozine. [...]

So instead of trying to keep track of the burgeoning landscape of European intellectual journals and magazines yourself, just visit eurozine.com, and -- whoosh! -- you get a good overview of each country's intellectual climate. The network's political independence and its ideological and moral broad-mindedness also vouch for a refreshing mixture of topics, perspectives, tonalities, and stylistic peculiarities.

And if Eurozine's selection of articles is not enough, you can review the tables of contents of all the journals' latest issues, available both in the original language and in English translation. It can't get more professional than this!"

-- Martin Lagerholm, "Proffsigt under Eurozines paraply", Smålands-Posten, 12 July 2006

Eurozine can't be praised enough

"Eurozine links Europe's cultures"

[It is important to take the voice of the other seriously. Only in this way can mutual understanding in Europe grow, said Jan Philipp Reemtsma.]

-- "'Eurozine' verbindet Europas Kulturen", Hamburger Abendblatt, 27 January 2006

A place to communicate, inform oneself, and sample

-- Petra Stuiber, "Literaturen, kontinental verquer", Der Standard, 24/25/26 December 2005

Clarifying the vague feeling of being European

"Europe's best"

"Eurozine provides independent debate on European history, identity, and culture like nowhere else."

-- Johan Öberg, "Europas bästa", Göteborgs-Posten, 26 May 2005

"The leading cultural magazine on the Web"

"An immensely valuable and fascinating project"

"This is an immensely valuable and fascinating project, which is sure to appeal to anyone interested in cultural or European studies."

-- Intute: Arts and Humanities, University of Oxford, Manchester Metropolitan University, and the University of the Arts London,

Cultural Europe coming true

Ensemble, ils ont créé "Eurozine, the Net Magazine".

The history of an approximation

Where were you when Europe fell apart?
