Samtiden Self-description

English
Samtiden is Norway’s largest cultural journal. It is also the oldest in Scandinavia, established in 1890. During the last 115 years, Samtiden has had a fascinating history as a leading journal influencing Norwegian literature, culture, and politics in many ways. Side by side, new and established, well-known authors analyze and diagnose our contemporary time through its trends and tendencies. We publish articles, review essays, and conversations. Each issue offers several essays by international writers. Samtiden’s aim is to be a sort of cultural compass, a literary, non-fictional tool with which to navigate in an increasingly complex international community.

Norsk
