Decolonizing political economy and postcolonial studies

Postmodernism as an epistemological project still reproduces a particular form of coloniality. A decolonial perspective requires a broader canon of thought that would require taking seriously the epistemic insights of critical thinkers from the global South. [ more ]

Reset Self-description

Reset is a bimonthly Italian magazine founded in 1993 by Giancarlo Bosetti along with several prominent European intellectuals (among them Norberto Bobbio and Vittorio Foa). The magazine is committed to secular, progressive, and liberal ideas, and is not affiliated with any political party. It propounds a new reformism supporting the renewal of the centre-left wing. Throughout the years, the magazine has set an international network of relationships with the main centres of social, philosophical, economic, and political thought. Through in-depth articles and analysis, Reset explores major cultural and political issues -- both national and international -- focusing on democratic systems and their internal dynamics, globalization, intercultural dialogue. Furthermore, the magazine pays special attention to the impact of the new communication technologies on society. In recent years, Reset has been holding special events on key issues that it has also been addressing in print.

Among Reset’s contributors are many notable intellectuals: Giuliano Amato, Ulrich Beck, Manuel Castells, Anthony Giddens, Jürgen Habermas, Richard Rorty, Gianni Vattimo, Michael Walzer, and several others. Reset cooperates with international magazines such as Prospect, Esprit, Dissent, Transit and The American Prospect, as well as with major universities and European research institutes.

The online magazine Caffè Europa (www.caffeeuropa.it) has grown out of Reset’s experience. Edited by Giancarlo Bosetti, it is a biweekly magazine that explores European culture in all of its aspects: political, economic, social, artistic, and so on. Furthermore, Caffè Europa focuses on the analysis and development of deliberative culture and democracy. Its articles, op-eds, and reviews on books, movies, and new media are continuously updated. Subscribers receive its daily press reviews by e-mail.

Reset is a private publishing company which receives no public funding: its birth and growth have been rendered possible thanks to the contribution and support of approximately thirty shareholders.
