Authors

Buket Uzuner

born in Ankara in 1955. Author of short stories, travelogues, and novels, one of the most prominent and acclaimed writers of contemporary Turkish Literature. Her books have been on the Turkish National Bestseller Lists since 1992 and have been translated into four languages. Ms Uzuner won the Yunus Nadi Prize for her novel The Sound of Fishsteps (Balik Iˇzlerinin Sesi) in 1993 and her novel Mediterranean Waltz (Kumral Ada- Mavi Tuna) was awarded Best Novel Prize of 1998 by the University of Istanbul.

Buket Uzuner was selected among the 75 Most Influential Women of the Republic of Turkey, for Mimoza-Sabah Magazine by well-known professionals, civic leaders, members of the press, and academia to celebrate the Republic of Turkey's 75th anniversary. Honorary fellow writer at the University of Iowa in 1996. Her novels, short stories and travel essays are tought in Turkish universities and have been the subject of many PhD theses. Buket Uzuner is currently living in Istanbul.
