Tzvetan Todorov
sociologist, structuralist, and philosopher. Born 1939 in Sofia, Todorov emigrated to Paris in 1963, where he introduced the work of the Russian formalists to a French readership and worked with Roland Barthes. Tzvetan Todorov is director of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) in Paris. His publications include: The Fantastic: A Structural Approach to Literary Genre, Mikhail Bakhtin: The Dialogical Principle, The Conquest of America: The Question of the Other, Facing the Extreme: Moral Life in the Concentration Camps. His latest book is Mémoire du mal, Tentation du bien.
