Karl-Markus Gauß
(b.1954 in Salzburg, Austria) works as an essyist and literary critic, and is editor of the Austrian journal Literatur und Kritik [Literature and Criticism]. He has received several awards for his work, among others the Österreichischer Staatspreis für Kulturpublizistik [Austrian National Prize for Cultural Journalism]. He is a freelance writer for Die Zeit and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (Germany); Neue Zürcher Zeitung (Switzerland); and Die Presse (Austria).
