New partner: Res Publica Nowa
Warsaw-based journal Res Publica began publishing in 1979 as an independent underground journal and was re-launched with state approval in 1987 as Res Publica Nowa – making it a rarity in the Soviet bloc.
The journal became famous for publishing Polish and foreign intellectuals virtually unknown to the Polish reading public of the time and was instrumental in creating the political climate in which the Roundtable Negotiations (1989) could take place. Now edited by the "third generation", Res Publica Nowa continues to draw a growing group of readers around the themes of culture, philosophy, society, and religion.
