Mindaugas Tamoíaitis
The article covers a period in the life and activities of Vincas Krdvd-Mickeviçius, one of the most important Lithuanian writers and public figures of the first half of the XXth century - and his relations with the Nationalist party. Together with Lithuania's president Antanas Smetona and prime minister Augustinas Voldemaras Krdvd made up the core of this party. However, all of them had too many ambitions to be leaders. Thus Voldemaras and Krdvd were forced into opposition. The author of the article traces how the conflict grew and under what circumstances Krdvd was forced to leave the party that was largely instrumental in staging state coup in 1926, while the writer joined the opposing intellectuals.
